Mr. William George Lambert, 71, well-known farmer of Forks Township, Sullivan Co., PA, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, December 8, 2025, at his home.
Bill was born on February 11, 1954, a son of the late George Leo and Mary A. Musser Lambert. He graduated from Sullivan County High School, president of the class of 1972, and from Penn State University in 1976 with a degree in agricultural science. He married the former Jody E. Campbell on October 8, 1977. Bill and Jody devoted their whole lives to working tirelessly on their family Century Farm, Lambert Farms, Inc. They enjoyed almost 45 years of marriage before Jody’s passing on September 16, 2022.
Bill was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Dushore, PA. During his youth, Bill was an altar server and lector at St. Francis Xavier Parish. He also helped with the annual Overton Picnic. Bill was a great wrestler and runner during his high school days. He was active in the East Forks 4-H Club throughout his childhood.
While at Penn State, Bill was a member of the Alpha Zeta ag fraternity. He returned to the family farm after graduation as a fifth-generation farmer. He and Jody raised all five of their kids on the farm. Bill was a lifetime member of the Sullivan County Agricultural Society. He was a director of the former Bradford Sullivan Crop Management Association, former Eastern Milk Producers Cooperative, and former Sire Power. He was a member of the PA and National Holstein Associations, the PA and America Farm Bureaus, Dairy Farmers of America, the Penn State Alumni and Ag Alumni Societies, the New Albany Rec Club, and the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery Association.
Bill served for 12 years on the Sullivan County School Board. He was an avid Penn State fan and enjoyed pointing out “Penn Staters” that made it to the NFL.
Bill was a true herdsman and farmer and took great pride in his herd of registered Holsteins and Ford New Holland farm equipment. He rarely took days off from farming and even in his “retirement” could be found feeding calves and driving dump trucks all over the county.
There isn’t a bar in two counties you can drive by without hearing stories of his talent - walking across the bar on his hands. He was always willing to prove that he could still do it. Bill loved telling stories and shooting the breeze with friends and strangers alike.
Bill was especially proud of his five children and 12 grandchildren. He enjoyed watching all of them play sports. He will be dearly missed by his family.
