Walter E. "Eddie"
Newton III
March 10, 1950 – May 5, 2026
Mr. Walter E. “Eddie” Newton III, age 76, of Wyalusing, PA, tragically passed away from an accident on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in South Carolina on his way home from Florida. His sudden passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
Born on March 10, 1950, in Towanda, PA, Eddie was the beloved son of the late Walter E. Newton Jr. and Doris Jane Wells Newton. A graduate of Wyalusing High School’s class of 1968, Eddie was actively involved in the FFA and 4-H, making history as the first in Bradford County to raise a veal calf. His passion for agriculture was evident from a young age, highlighted by his participation in sheep shearing competitions alongside his father, where he earned qualifications to the state and national levels.
On June 21, 1969, Eddie married his devoted wife, Darlene R. Kinner. Together, they shared almost 57 years filled with love, teamwork, and family interests.
Raised on the family’s 160-acre farm in New Era, known as WAJA Farms, Eddie embraced the values of hard work, farming, and family instilled in him from an early age. With his father, he co-founded P&N Packing in 1977 and Formula 1 Feeds Inc. in 1979. Following his father’s passing in 1995, Eddie took on the role of CEO, leading the family businesses with dedication and pride.
Eddie was an active member of his community and enjoyed many social connections. He was a social member of the Wyalusing American Legion Post #534, the Towanda Gun Club, and the Monroeton Rod & Gun Club, and was a lifelong proud member of the NRA. During their winters in Florida, Eddie and Darlene were members of the Eagles Club, AMVETS, and the Moose Club in Leesburg, Florida.
His hobbies included farming, camping, hunting, fishing, and cooking. Eddie and Darlene shared a special bond, often cooking and canning together as a team. They loved traveling the world, with the Caribbean holding a special place in their hearts. Above all, Eddie treasured time spent with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His warmth, commitment, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
