Theresa Marion Weaver, age 89, longtime resident of Dushore, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Robert Packer Hospital, in Sayre, PA, with her loving family at her side.

 

Theresa was born on October 5, 1934, at home in Forks Twp., Sullivan County, PA, a daughter of the late Theodore R. & Leona Shilkowski Richlin.  She married Richard G. Weaver of Dushore, PA, on September 8, 1956. They were married for over 35 years before Dick’s untimely passing on June 14, 1992.

 

She worked at GTE Sylvania and was the proprietor of The Colley Pub for many years. 

 

In her earlier years she loved to garden, and she enjoyed the simple things in life, such as sitting on her front porch watching the birds, reading, playing cards with friends and family, and tending to her porch flowers and taking care of her dog Pumpkin whom she loved so much.   She had an unbreakable and unconditional love for her children and her family and was a kind and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. 

 

Theresa was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also an original member of the Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion Auxiliary, Dushore, PA, and was currently an honorary lifetime member.

She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

 

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Joseph G. Klem on January 9, 1992. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Francis Richlin December 25, 1952,   Raymond E. “Gus” Richlin on February 25, 2021, James H. Richlin Jr. on August 21, 2018, and his wife, G. Mary Fassett Richlin, on August 9, 2012, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Catherine Weaver Skwierawski on March 22, 1999, and her husband, Lawrence P. Skwierawski, on May 27 1978; Mary Weaver Barnosky, on March 22, 2019, Ronald E. Thomas, on March   2, 2017, Ellery N. Weaver Jr., on August 12, 1991 and his wife Maxine P. Richlin Weaver on May 7, 2021, and also a nephew Randy Nathan Weaver on April 9, 2014.     

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning, May 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, with the Rev. Thomas J. Major, her pastor, presiding.  Interment will follow in St. Basil’s Cemetery.

 

Friends and family may call on Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.

 

Members of the St. Basil’s Altar and Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 3:45 PM on Thursday, May 9, 2024, before the start of the visitation.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bradford County Humane Society, PO Box 179, Ulster, PA 18850 in honor of Theresa’s deep love for her dog or to the Post #996 Legion Auxiliary, 224 Bernice Road, Dushore, PA 18614. 

 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
