Shawn Michael Richart, age 58, of Dushore, PA passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019.

          Shawn was born on January 1, 1961, in Muncy, PA, a son of Nancy McCarty Romano and the late John C. Richart.  He graduated from the Hughesville High School, a member of the class of 1979.  He enlisted in the US Army and honorably served his country from 1979 until 1983 attaining the rank of Corporal. While serving in the Army he was a Lift & Load Equipment Operator.

          Upon discharge he began working at the Guy McCarty Saw Mill in Hillsgrove, PA and then spent 25 years in the logging industry.  He was currently employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Operating Engineer’s Union Local 542.

          Shawn was an excellent logger and was a decorated ARMY veteran. He was a passionate horseman that enjoyed hunting, farming and making hay. He loved spending time with his family, children and grandchildren, riding horses, roller skating, playing baseball, and rough housing. One of his favorite pastimes was driving back roads and taking the long way home.

          Besides his father he was predeceased by a son, Jesse C. Richart on September 8, 2012, and a brother: Lynn L. Richart on September 27, 2002, and a step sister Dana Cater Jean.

          Family and friends may call on Friday, March 22, 2019, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

          There will be a Vigil Service at 4:00 P.M. on Friday afternoon at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas J. Major, pastor, of St. Basil’s Church, presiding.

          A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Lairdsville Community Fire Hall, 143 School Lane, Lairdsville, PA from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

          Military Honors will be accorded by the Honors Detail of the US Army on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11:00 A.M at the Lairdsville Fire Hall.
