Ronald James Garey

Ronald James Garey, age 83, of Lesterville, (Lopez), PA, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021, at his home with his loving family at his side.

          Ron was born November 20, 1937, in Pittston, PA, a son of the late Joseph & Madge Borsos Garey.  He graduated from the Pittston High School, a member of the class of 1956.  He joined the United States Air Force and met his wife, the former Rose Lee Jimenez in Oklahoma City, OK, and they were married on March 6, 1961, in Shawnee, OK.  They moved to Lopez, PA, in 1977, when Ron retired after 20 years of service with the United States Air Force.  Rose Lee predeceased him on February 4, 2019.

          After retirement he worked at the Endicott-Johnson Factory in Mildred, PA, until it closed.

          Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and visiting with friends from the cabins and always looked forward to watching a good western. He was never without a deck of cards, always ready for a game of solitaire.

          He is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

           Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a son, Richard. He was also predeceased by four grandchildren: Nacole Johnson, Arthur Rohe, Kim Mallatt, Heather Mallatt; and two brothers: Richard and Robert Garey.

          Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
