Obituary

Ramona Kaauamo, a beacon of love and nurturing spirit, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, in Pflugerville, Texas, at the age of 97.

Born to John and Anna Calaman Martinelli on November 19, 1928, in Blakely, Pennsylvania, Ramona carried the values of love, care, and devotion throughout her life. Preceded in death by her beloved parents, her only sister, Frances Walsh and Fran's husband James, and her cherished daughter, Ann Cecile Akiu, Ramona's legacy continues to live on through her surviving family members.

She is survived by her sons, John, Wayne, and Kevin Kaauamo, along with his wife Karen. In addition, her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren will forever remember Ramona as a cornerstone of their family, a woman full of love, wisdom, and strength.

Ramona dedicated her life to the noble profession of teaching. Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Teaching Certificate from New Jersey, she passionately shaped young minds in New Jersey, Hawaii, and Connecticut. Never losing her love for nurturing the next generation, she also served as a daycare provider in Connecticut. Her career was not merely a job, but a testament to her love for children and her commitment to equipping them with knowledge and skills for a better future.

A devout Catholic, Ramona's faith was a guiding light in her life and served as the foundation for her caregiving nature. She was a caregiver for her mother, showcasing her selflessness and deep-rooted love for family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Austin, TX, on April 30, 2026, at 12:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks for donations to be made in Ramona's name to a charity of their choice. This is a reflection of her selfless nature and her belief in the power of kindness.

Throughout her life, Ramona exemplified strength, love, and dedication. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. Her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Mildred, PA 18632 with Msgr. Robert Wargo, presiding.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St, Dushore, PA 18614
