Patrick "PJ" Joseph Hobbs

Patrick Joseph Hobbs, age 66, well known resident of Hillsgrove, PA, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, February 12, 2022.  “PJ” or “Pidge” as he was commonly known, graduated from the Pottsville High School, a member of the class of 1973.  He was an outstanding baseball player in high school, and then went on and became a member of the farm team for the Atlanta Braves. 

          He returned to Sullivan County to help his grandmother, Frances Novak, who owned the High Knob Inn in Hillsgrove.  He and his sister Cindy Hobbs McCarty purchased the Inn in 1979 from their grandmother.  He married the former Kelly Ann Stark, on November 9, 2000. 

          Pat enjoyed hunting, playing pool, and spending time with his family. He greatly enjoyed fishing and traveled to Canada every year to fish, and cooking and playing cards.

          Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother: Robin Hobbs of Pottsville, PA, on July 4, 1977, and a special cousin, Fred Hobbs, of Pottsville.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 12:00 Noon, at the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA with the Rev. Thomas J. Major, pastor of St. Basil’s Church, presiding. 

          Friends may call on Thursday, at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
