Mrs. Mary Theresa Gleockler, age 90, of Dushore, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at the UPMC Susquehanna:Williamsport Hospital with her loving family at her side.
Theresa was born on October 14, 1927, a daughter of the late Daniel & Beatrice Madonna Miner Scanlin. She graduated from St. Basil’s High School, a member of the class of 1945. She married Charles E. “Chet” Gleockler on June 4, 1949, and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage before his passing on October 25, 2000. She and her husband owned and operated the Green Swan Hotel in Dushore. Theresa also worked in the office of Meehan Company of Dushore and also at the Sullivan County Courthouse in the Assessor’s office.
Theresa was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, socializing, playing bingo, listening to music and dancing.

20 great-grandchildren: Triston Richmond, Beaux Richmond, Sierra McDonald, Hudson McDonald, Maven Renshaw, Juniper Renshaw, Michael Clark, Travis Clark, Kayla Clark, Brian Barto, Lauryn Barto, Brice (Morgan) Barto, Tierni Barto, Colby Gleockler, Cayden Gleockler, Kaylee Gleockler, Kyla Gleockler, Winter McCarty, Scarlet McCarty, and Hunter Dickerson.
Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a son Robert C. Gleockler, on August 28, 1976 and by a Brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Margaret Scanlin; brothers-in-law: Richard C. Gleockler, Leon C. Gleockler and Earl Tubach.
A Transferal Service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, with the Rev. Michael McCormick, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes, Montoursville, presiding. Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call on Friday, July 20, 2018, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M.
Theresa wanted to express her sincere admiration and thanks to Lew Hope for all his care for her over the years, and asks that Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Dushore Fire and Ambulance Association, PO Box 1, Dushore, PA 18614 in her memory.
