Mary Jo Fries Dunn was born on June 19, 1946, in Dushore, Pennsylvania, to Leo Donald and Mary Margaret Scanlin Fries. She passed away on January 21, 2023, in Tallahassee, FL. She had 3 siblings: Peggy, Denny, and Nancy. Jo attended Saint Basil’s Catholic school until she graduated high school in 1964. For two years following graduation, Jo worked at the Pentagon in Washington DC.
Jo then married Fred Dunn of Coley, Pennsylvania, and eventually settled in Miami, Florida, having three children: Phil, Greg, and Jen. Jo loved cooking, gardening, entertaining friends, and traveling. In 2004, she moved to Tallahassee Florida, where she made many new friends and enjoyed being a grandmother to her six grandchildren. Jo will be remembered for her constant compliments, sweet nature, creativity, and warmth.
Jo is survived by her children Phillip Dunn, Greg and Aimee Dunn, Jen and Bryan Cureton; her six grandchildren, Anna, Tyler, Bradley, Kyla, Macy and Kelsey; sister Nancy and brother-in-law Mike McMahon; nieces Erin and Nicole; nephews Ryan and Dave as well as the father of her children, Fred Dunn. She is predeceased by her sister Peggy in 1960 and brother Denny in 2019.
A funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (4665 Thomasville Rd. Tallahassee, Florida 32309) on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 12:00 p.m.
