Obituary

Ms. Lorraine Ann Yaverski, 90, of Laporte, PA, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the UMPC Hospital, in Williamsport, PA, after a brief illness.

Lorraine was born, October 8, 1935, in Duryea, PA, the daughter of the late John and Marie Kazanowski Yaverski. She graduated from the Duryea High School, a member of the class of 1952.

Lorraine worked for many years in the textile industry at Valley Dress Co. in Pittston. She was a member of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU).

When she retired, she moved to Laporte to be with her daughter, Christine.

Lorraine will be remembered for her generous spirit, unwavering kindness, her stubborn personality, and above all, her deep, unconditional love for her dogs.

Whether she was cooking them vegetables, spoiling them with treats, or simply enjoying their quiet companionship at her feet, her dogs were her truest friends. She loved them all fiercely, and in return, they gave her a joyful devotion.

Beyond her love for her furry companions, Lorraine lived a full life. She was a dedicated, caring mother and touched the lives of everyone around her with her sense of humor and laughter.

A devoted sports fan, she proudly supported the Kansas City Chiefs, Notre Dame and Penn State football.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, John and Joseph Jaworski.

She is survived by her daughter Christine Wicken and her husband Robert of Laporte. Also surviving are her sisters Jean Rupe of Olyphant; Marie Heberling and her husband Jake of Buffalo, NY; her brother Stanley Jaworski and his wife Roseanne of West Pittston; and Edwin Jaworski and his wife Judy of Virginia Beach, along with several nieces and nephews.

Lorraine’s daughter and son-in-law would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of UMPC Hospital for their exceptional care, kindness and compassion.

A Celebration of her life will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bradford County Humane Society: PO Box 179, Ulster, PA, 18850.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
