Linda Ann Hallabuk Baton, 75, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on March 8, 1951, in Lopez, Pennsylvania, Linda was the daughter of the late Michael Francis and Helen Sisco Hallabuk. A proud native of Lopez, she maintained a deep love for her hometown and the people who made it special throughout her life.
After attending Lopez School, Turnpike School, and Sullivan County High School, Linda continued her education at Williamsport Area Community College.
She later married George Doyle Baton Jr., and together they had three sons. They lived in Passaic New Jersey where she worked as a legal secretary. In the early 1980s, they moved their family back to Sullivan County and subsequently got divorced. Linda devoted herself to raising her boys alone by continuing her work as a secretary and later after her children were grown found a rewarding employment as an activity’s coordinator at a nursing and rehabilitation facility in New Jersey, where after several years Linda moved back and remained in Sullivan County the rest of her years. She continued working in the 1980s, for a number of years, as a legal secretary at Davis, Murphy and Niemiec in Towanda.
Linda cherished the relationships she formed throughout her life and enjoyed impromptu visits with friends and loved ones. She was also known for her generosity, often passing along items to people who could use them. She enjoyed dancing, spending time at Lake Jean, and getting her hair done. She also loved writing and sharing her poetry, using words to express her thoughts, feelings, and appreciation for the world around her. She was especially proud to have her poems published in the Poet’s Corner of the Sullivan Review.
Linda is survived by her son, John Baton, and his wife, Ember Baton; her brothers: Greg Hallabuk, Michael Hallabuk, and John Hallabuk and his wife, Doreen; Sister, Donna Jankowsky and her husband Paul Jankowski; and five grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her two sons, Troy Scott Baton, on March 21, 2012, and his brother George Doyle Baton III, on May 25, 2020
Linda will be remembered for her love of family, friendship, poetry, and her hometown of Lopez. The memories she created and the words she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
