Leonard Simpson Esq.

February 25, 1949 — June 14, 2021

Leonard Simpson, Esq. Sullivan County District Attorney, age 72, of Laporte, PA passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021.

 

Len was born February 25, 1949, the son of the late Raymond and Genevieve Mackiewicz Simpson.

He graduated from Bloomsburg High School, a member of the Class of 1968. He graduated from Gettysburg in 1971 and the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in Birmingham, AL in 1974.

Len began his private law practice with Kenneth B. Lee in Dushore, PA and later assumed the practice of Charles M. Kschinka in Laporte, PA.

Len served Sullivan County as District Attorney for a total of 30 years. Though he dedicated his life to law, he ALWAYS made his family a priority.

Len was a selfless community minded man who always gave back. He supported and served the town he loved, LaPorte, for many years and was committed to the growth and success of not only LaPorte, but all of Sullivan County.

Len was and “avid” runner, a PVC enthusiast, a jokester and all around good man. He had and eclectic sense of humor and was always making people laugh, but he had a huge heart and would help anyone in need.

He was a loving and fun grandpa to Alyson’s four children: Ava, Max, Ian and Ren; Brie’s three children: Molly, Claire and Natalie; and Casey’s daughter, Lennox Grace.

He was a bonus uncle to three nieces (Marley, Rory and Sara) who loved spending time with him.

He was predeceased by his sister, Bonnie Jean Laubach in 1974.

There will be a celebration of his dedication to his family, career and community on January 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the LaPorte Volunteer Fire Hall, LaPorte PA.

In lieu of flowers or memorial donations, the family requests that you take the time to be with your family, make someone laugh and be active in your community.
