Kurland

Mr. Leon Kajetan Kurland, age 74, of Dushore, PA, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 9, 2026.
Leon was born on September 4, 1951, in Queens, NY, a son of the late Leo Kajetan and Hildegard Clara Grabnitz Kurland. He grew up in Browns Mills, NJ, and graduated from the Pemberton Township High School, a member of the class of 1969.
Following in his father’s footsteps who was a retired Colonel, Leon enlisted in the Unites States Marine Corps on February 23, 1970 and honorably served his country until his discharge in 1980. After his military service, he worked for General Electric, Martin Marietta, and then retired from Lockheed Martin.
He married the former Michele Ann Stabrylla of Dushore on July 27, 1974. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary last July of 2025.
Leon was a member of St. Basil’s Church, the White Ash Land Association, and also a member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA.
While living in Fredericksburg, VA, he enjoyed fishing and had a boat on the Chesapeake Bay. After retirement, Leon and Michele returned home to Sullivan County, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid fisherman and hunter throughout his whole life. He also enjoyed driving and taking road trips every day through the woods on White Ash properties.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John P. and Theresa Ann “TA” Stabrylla.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
