Joseph Andrew
Yeager Jr.
Sep 30, 1943 — Jun 28, 2026
Mr. Joseph Andrew Yeager Jr., age 82, of Dushore, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded with love from his family on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
Joe was born on September 30, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Joseph Andrew Yeager Sr. and Irene Loretta Meyers Yeager. He graduated from Edison High School in 1962.
What began as a sixth-grade school yard kiss resulted in him marrying the love of his life, Judith Lyn Schmitt on June 4, 1964, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage which established a loving family legacy with 7 children, 20 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Joe worked as a structural Iron Worker and was a proud member of Local 401 in Philadelphia. He purchased land in Dushore, PA, in 1988 and made that his second home in the endless mountains in Sullivan Co., PA.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Joe found peace in nature. He was known to “putz” around exploring his land, feeding his fish at the pond and working on his many tractors. He was a passionate hunter whose most memorable hunts were with his son, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. He fanatically planted fruit trees and took great pleasure in watching and listening to “his birds”. Dad was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan who passed on that passion, making his entire family die-hard Birds fans. For years, Joe was an active and committed member of AA where he mentored and sponsored others offering support through their own journey. His 45 years of sobriety reflected his strength and commitment to himself and his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Joseph A. Yeager III. It brings us comfort knowing Dad’s first embrace was from his son, Joe.
He is survived by his loving wife Judy Yeager, his children: Debbie Franks (Mike), Michelle Corson (Jimmy), Chris Yeager (Melissa), Jennifer Morrow (Mark), Amy Busa (John), Jaime Jackson (Greg) and his sister Marleen Yeager.
Along with his wife, children and grandchildren, he will be missed by his friends and extended family.
Services and mass will be determined at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
