Obituary

Jane Louise Krause, age 86, formerly of Albany Twp., Bradford Co., PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the Guthrie Robert Packer Skilled Nursing Unit, Towanda Campus.

Jane was born on May 23, 1939, in Muncy, PA, a daughter of the late Robert Eugene and Doris Catharin Brown Hepner. She attended Wyalusing Valley High School before marrying Richard A. “Dick” Krause. They lived in the Elmira, NY, area before moving to a small farm on Gainer Hill Road outside of Dushore, where the family raised a few farm animals and planted a large garden. Jane would later move to Albany Twp., Bradford Co., where she lived the rest of her life before spending her final years at the nursing home.

Jane worked as a secretary for the Sullivan County High School before her retirement.

Jane was an active member of the Wyalusing Rainbow Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution Machwihilusing Chapter. As a member of the Rainbow Club, Jane took great pride and joy in planting and tending to the flowers and planters around the town of Wyalusing for many years.

At her home, Jane also enjoyed planting and taking care of all of her flowers around her property. Jane was very proud of her family lineage to Thomas Brown IV, of Stonington, CT, and Browntown (Wyalusing Twp.), PA. He was a Private in the Colonial Line and Revolutionary War, and helped defend the fort at Wilkes Barre, PA, during the "Wyoming Massacre" during the late 1700's. Thomas and his family then settled in Browntown, PA, and many generations of the Brown family lived at the same home until the 1960s, including Jane’s mother Doris. However her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Jane loved and valued her family immensely. She was a loving and devoted daughter to her mother until her passing at 101 in 2016. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
