Mr. James Anthony Prato Sr., age 74, of Lopez, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday evening, June 18, 2025, after a short illness.

Jim was born on March 2, 1951, in Trenton, NJ, a son of the late Frank Bernard and Lottie Sokolowski Prato. He graduated from Ewing High School in Ewing, NJ, in 1969. He honorably served his county in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in September of 1979 as a Sergeant.

Jim worked as a conductor for the New Jersey Transit System for over 30 years.

He enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed skiing.

He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son Michael J. Prato on February 9, 2021, and a brother Francis Bernard Prato Jr. on May 5, 2023, and a sister Judy Prato.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family and James will be buried in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in New Jersey at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
