Frederick "Gene" Eugene Walker

Frederick Eugene Walker, 84, of Wyalusing, PA passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, at the Guthrie Memorial Skilled Nursing Unit in Towanda, PA.

          Gene was born September 27, 1933 in Sayre, PA, a son of the late Frederick R. “George” Walker and Alice Marion Strong Walker.  He graduated from the Wyalusing High School, a member of the class of 1951.  Gene married the former Janice Fisk of Wilmot on January 4, 1963. After graduation he worked at Arey’s Lumber for 20 years, and then went to P&G from where he retired in 1992.

          Gene loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid softball pitcher, having at the age of 60 led his son Jim’s softball team to the national modified softball tournament in Long Island. He was a Phillies Phanatic, having attended many many games over the years. Gene also enjoyed gardening and taking care of the birds. Gene loved bowling, and teaching kids to bowl. He was a past president of the PA Jr. Bowling association. Gene was also a former Jr. High basketball coach at Wyalusing High School.

5 Great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA, with Pastor Lawrence Thomas, his former pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Wyalusing Cemetery, Wyalusing, PA.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday.
