Obituary

Francis John “Frank” Yonkin age 75, and his wife Bonnie Joan Yonkin age 70, of Dushore, PA, tragically passed away together as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Frank was born on March 9, 1950, in Williamsport, PA, and a son of the late John Henry and Josephine Anne McMahon Yonkin. He graduated from Sullivan County High School, a member of the class of 1968.

Bonnie was born Bonnie Joan Fox on February 17, 1956, in San Diego, CA, a daughter of the late Caroll and Ina Frazier Fox. She attended school in California.

Frank honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was discharged in San Diego, CA, in 1972 where he met his future wife Bonnie. They were married on April 6, 1974. They returned to Dushore and made their home on Carpenter Street.

Frank worked as an electrician at Procter & Gamble and retired in 2006. Bonnie worked different jobs throughout her life, but especially enjoyed helping at her daughter’s grocery store, Connie’s Market in Wyalusing.

Bonnie and Frank were members of St. Basil’s Church in Dushore and long time members of the Dushore Fire Company, where Frank served in many positions including past Fire Chief. Frank joined the Fire Company in 1966, and was named Honorary Chief in 1976, and then served as Fire Chief from 1986 until 2000.

Bonnie and Frank shared a rare and beautiful love that spanned 52 years of marriage. Kind, generous, and deeply devoted to one another, they truly did everything side by side. Not only were they each other’s constant source of strength and comfort, but they were unwavering in their love and support for their children, grandchildren, and extended family. Their home was a place of warmth and welcome, where everyone was accepted just as they were. Family was at the heart of their lives, and nothing brought Bonnie and Frank more joy than their cherished grandchildren. Together, they created a life rooted in love, steady support, and quiet strength — a legacy that will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know them.

Surviving are their four children:

Ina and Mike Porter, New Albany, PA

Carol and Phil Salmon, Ruther Glen, VA
