Erma L. Bagdon, age 83, of Wyalusing, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, April 30, 2025, surrounded by her family at the Guthrie Robert Packer Skilled Nursing Unit, Towanda Campus.

Erma was born July 5, 1941, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Ralph J. and Retha Aileen Pickering Meteer. She spent the first four years of her life in Niagara Falls, NY before moving to what would become the Meteer Family Homestead on Lime Hill.

After graduating from Wyalusing High School as a member of the class of 1959, she worked briefly at Whipple Brothers in Laceyville. When a job became available at the First National Bank in Wyalusing she jumped at the chance to work closer to home. She was promoted to assistant cashier and it was a job she thoroughly enjoyed for 14-1/2 years. Her love of numbers led her to her next job as a bookkeeper at Welles Mill Company and coupled with the roles of secretary and receptionist it was another job that brought her great enjoyment for 22 years. After her retirement from Welles Mill, Erma joined her husband Tony in insurance sales.

Erma became engaged to Gregory Frisbee of Holland, NY; however he was tragically killed in automobile accident on October 27, 1968 just 19 days before their wedding. Greg’s family always remained an important part of her life.

On November 5, 1971 she married Tony Bagdon of Stevensville, PA. They enjoyed almost 30 years of marriage before Tony’s death on May 12, 2001. Tony and Erma did everything together. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States - especially to visit historical sites. They said there was no need to travel to foreign countries when there was so much to see here in the “Good Old USA”. They also were very involved with the North-South Skirmish Association for many years. They made many lifelong friends through attending regional shoots and Fall and Spring Nationals at Fort Shenandoah in Winchester, VA.

Erma was the family historian. She had the uncanny knack of remembering stories from years ago - right down to the finest detail. If you needed to identify photos or know family connections, she always had the answers.

Erma enjoyed numerous hobbies. She was adept at sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, needlework and scrapbooking. Cooking and baking were also favorite pastimes. She loved to collect and experiment with new recipes as well as family favorites any chance she got. After Tony’s passing, she continued her love of traveling through bus trips and cruises with a few close friends.

Erma was a lifelong member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church.
