David Stone
Ryan
February 19, 1962 – March 9, 2026
Eagles Mere Cemetery
11:00 - 11:30 am (Eastern time)
David Stone Ryan, 64, of Eagles Mere, PA, passed away on March 9, 2026, in Wilmington, DE.
David was born February 19, 1962, at Bryn Mawr Hospital, PA, the son of the late Robert Stone & Priscilla Travers Ryan. David took an early interest in guitar and dramatics club. He graduated high school from the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA in 1980. David studied at Dickinson College after high school and graduated in 1984. While at Dickinson, David enlisted in the US Army ROTC program and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation.
David served with the First Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 2nd Armored Division, and was discharged on September 24th, 1988, as a 1st Lieutenant. David was highly regarded by peer officers and members of his platoon and later his company. David went out of his way to support the soldiers under his command including, on more than one occasion, helping them qualify for higher ratings in armored combat.
David was an extremely talented musician, best known for his portrayal of Johnny Cash, and his tribute show performed at venues across the nation, most notably performing at San Quentin Prison where Johnny Cash himself had performed in 1969. David also performed to a sold-out crowd at the DeWire Center in Eagles Mere, PA, and at the Sullivan Fair in Forksville, PA. David was unique in presenting an authentic tribute to Johnny Cash - sharing Mr. Cash’s music with younger generations unfamiliar with the golden age of rock and roll during the 1950s and 1960s.
David valued his military service and often stated that more than anything else, he was a soldier.
