Mr. Charles “Chuck” E. Minturn, age 77, of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the Chemung County Health Center surrounded by his family.
Chuck was born on September 11, 1945, in Elmira, NY, a son of the late George E. and Dolly Marie Whispell Minturn. He graduated from Athens High School. After high school he honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1965-1968 on the USS Wasp. After being honorably discharged he later enlisted in the United States Reserves serving from 1971 until 1992.
He worked various jobs before joining Leprino’s, from which he worked for 15 years before retirement.
Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family, and also his group of close friends who met regularly at the Sayre McDonalds. He was an auto enthusiast, with a special love for Corvette’s. He had a large collection of Hallmark musical Christmas ornaments. He also enjoyed word search puzzles and taking a lot of pride in their neatness.
He was a member of the Quackenbush Hill Baptist Church, Corning, NY. Throughout his life his faith was always very important to him. He was also a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion Post #154.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Marcia Spicer, a brother Robert Minturn, and a daughter Krista Teeter, as well as two brother in laws; Thomas House and Fred Spicer.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, July 14th at 11:00AM at Crossroads Family Ministries, 200 W. Lockhart St., Sayre, PA with Rev. Dan Barner and Pastor Tyson Wahl co-officiating. Interment will follow in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
