Charles Lee Baumunk Sr, age 84, of Elkland Township, Sullivan Co., PA, passed away on Thursday evening, July 9, 2026, at the Gatehouse in Williamsport, PA.
Charlie was born May 31, 1942, in Canton, PA, a son of the late Dudley Lee and Bertha Morgan Baumunk. He attended the former Loyalsock Area High School. He married the former Ruth M. Boyles of Elkland Township on March 18, 1960. They celebrated 66 years of marriage this past March.
Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was the president of the Baumunk Lumber Company of Forksville, PA. Charlie served for many years as the President of the Fairmount Cemetery Association in Forksville. He also served as a Sullivan County School Board director and an M&T Bank director, as well as a member of the board of directors of Guthrie Hospital. He was a member of the Canton Masonic Lodge #415 F.&A.M.
Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, square dancing, bowling, making maple syrup and wood working. He coached little league baseball and was an avid farmer. He was an active and very proud supporter / attendee from 1970 – 2025 of his family sport events. Charlie attended his three boys’ basketball games and sporting events from grade school through high school, and his grandchildren’s basketball, soccer, and college basketball games. He most recently had the pleasure of watching his great-grandchildren’s sporting events. Charlie hardly ever missed a game.
Charlie loved visiting with his boys and family and reminiscing about his early logging days and timbering activities. He enjoyed traveling across country in his motor home visiting many states and tourist sites over the years.

Charlie is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Prentice E. “Ben” and Marjorie Clark Baumunk, a sister and brother-in-law, Glenna Agnes and Donald Edkin; and a brother-in-law, Robert Hatch.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM in the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM with Pastor Thomas M. Brokaw of UMPC, officiating. Interment will be held later in the Fairmount Cemetery, Forksville, PA.
