Carmela Christina Walosin

          Mrs. Carmela Christina Walosin, age 93, of Lopez, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at the Guthrie Towanda Hospital Skilled Nursing & Rehab, in Towanda, PA.

          Carmela was born on September 19, 1928, in Corona, NY, a daughter of the late Carmine & Margaret LaSalle Caputo. She graduated from the Queens High School, Queens, NY. She married Francis Walosin on August 25, 1951, and they enjoyed 28 years of marriage before his untimely passing on January 11, 1980.

          Carmela was well known in the Lopez community, volunteering her time whenever needed. She was always helping with the St. Basil’s 4^th of July picnics and Lopez Old Home Days, and also helped make pierogis for St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Church, in Lopez, PA. She also served on the Colley Township Election Board.

          Carmela was the advertising manager for The Sullivan Review newspaper for 22 years.  She also worked for the Eagles Mere Country Club and for Ricci Catering for many years.

          She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA, and also a member of the Lopez Civic Club. She enjoyed driving with her dear friends, the ladies of Lopez to Dushore to pick up groceries.

          Carmela was a wonderful mother and her family was the most important to her. She was very caring and generous to everyone. She had a strong faith in God that carried her through life’s ups and downs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

          She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

          Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a daughter, Marlene Libby Johnson on July 11, 2006, and by two brothers: Joseph Caputo and Michael Caputo and by two sisters: Catherine Masti and Lucy DeSena.

          Funeral Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

          Interment will be in SS: Peter and Paul’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Lopez, PA.
