Mr. Bruno Benjamin Najaka Jr., age 88, of Dushore, PA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 03, 2018, at his home with his loving family at his side.
Bruno was born March 3, 1930, in Lee, PA, a son of the late Bruno B. and Josephine Kovaleski Najaka Sr. He graduated from the Newport Township High School, class of 1947, and received his bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Industrial Arts from the Penn State University in 1952.
He married the former Mary Louise Rule of Wanamie, PA, on June 14, 1952. She graduated from the Penn State University in 1951. They moved to Dushore, PA, in 1952, where Mary Lou taught Kindergarten for 25 years until her retirement. She predeceased Bruno on February 16, 1997.
Bruno taught Industrial Arts, (Wood Shop) starting at Turnpike and later at the Sullivan County High School for 41 years until he retired.
He was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, and a member Connell’s Pond Camp, a member of White Ash Land Association and was very active with the Sullivan County Soil & Water Conservation District, which he joined in 1969. In 2013, he became an Associate Director Emeritus reflecting 43 years of continuing service. He was also a member of the Polish Falcons of American, Nest 163, Mocanaqua, PA.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He loved to teach and would enjoy visiting with his students. He also enjoyed traveling with his companions and attending sporting events, especially Penn State Football games.

He was predeceased by his son, Bruce Najaka, of Nanticoke, PA, on October 11, 2017, and a special friend, Sandra Jane Gulich, of Dushore, PA, on July 20, 2016, and extended family: George Kovalich Sr., Joseph Podrazik Sr., Stanley Jaskewicz, and Stephen Hoodak.
A Transferal Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, July 9th, 2018, from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. Richard Rojas, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Mildred, PA.
Friends and family may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA, on Sunday, July 8, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 9:00 until the time of the Transferal.
