Betty Ann "BA"
Moyer
November 26, 1931 – May 10, 2026
Betty Ann “BA” Moyer, aged 94, of Danville and Eagles Mere, PA, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Sunday, May 10th, 2026, at Nottingham Village Nursing Home.
Born November 26, 1931, in Danville, PA, Betty Ann was the cherished daughter of the late Dr. Harry A. and Margaret A. Connors Moyer. From the tender age of seven, she began spending summers in Eagles Mere alongside her parents, forging deep and lasting connections to the community. She distinguished herself academically, graduating from St. Cyril’s Academy in Danville and earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, in 1954, from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL.
For thirty-one dedicated years, BA imparted knowledge and kindness as a second-grade teacher at Bloomsburg Elementary School, touching countless young lives with her warmth and wisdom. Beyond her vocation, she was a committed and active member of the Republican Party, demonstrating civic devotion at every turn.
Betty Ann’s contributions extended far beyond the classroom. In her beloved hometown of Danville, as well as her cherished summer home at Eagles Mere, she was known to everyone—recognizing not only their names but the stories of their families across generations.
In Eagles Mere, she remained a vibrant presence, engaged with community life from her vantage points on her Kozy Korner porch and she was EMA’s first “Beach Director” – getting visitors their locker keys, renting boats, and supervising a generations-worth of life guards. Her leadership and enthusiasm were evident in her membership with the Eagles Mere Civic Club, past president of the Eagles Mere Park Association, and steadfast support of the Eagles Mere Athletic Association Water Carnival. In recognition of her lifelong dedication, she was honored as a “Lifetime Ambassador” by the Eagles Mere Athletic Association in 2006.
In Danville, BA’s commitment to public service flourished following her retirement from teaching. She served with distinction on the Danville Borough Council, including a tenure as Vice President in 1985. Additionally, she contributed thoughtfully as a member of the Danville Municipal Authority and as Police Commissioner. Her leadership extended to the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs, where she served as both President and Secretary, earning the prestigious Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence in 2006 for her outstanding service. Betty Ann also dedicated her efforts as a board member to the Danville State Hospital, where her steadfast volunteerism was recognized twice with the Superintendent’s Award for Volunteer Excellence. Furthermore, she served on the board of the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Risk Management Association.
Betty Ann was predeceased by her infant sister, Margaret F. Moyer, who passed away on November 20, 1929.
Betty Ann “BA” Moyer’s life stands as a testament to the power of dedication, kindness, and service—a true beacon of her communities in both Danville and Eagles Mere. Her grace, warmth, and unwavering commitment to community leave an enduring legacy for all who knew her.
BA will be laid to rest alongside her parents and sister in the Charles Baber Cemetery in Pottsville, PA.
A celebration of her remarkable and accomplished life will be held during the summer months and announced on NextDoor.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, located at 206 Water Street, Dushore, PA.
