Bernard Chrzanowski

March 31, 1934 — December 13, 2018

Bernard Chrzanowski, 84, of Apalachin, NY, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018.

He was born on March 31, 1934 in Murraytown, PA, a son of the late Constantine & Josephine (Yazyna) Chrzanowski.  He graduated from Turnpike High School, a member of the class of 1952.  He married Alice L. Silverstrim of Dushore, PA, on August 17, 1957.  Alice predeceased him on December 19, 2014.

Bernie served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of the Masons, the VFW and American Legion.  He was also actively involved in the Apalachin United Methodist Church.  Bernie was also a lifetime employee of the IBM Corp.

He is survived by his loving son, Douglas (Colleen) Chrzanowski, Owego, NY; Sister:  Eleanor Grandinetti, of Lake Winola, PA; six Sisters-in-law: Shirley Chrzanowski of Mildred, PA, Rose Mary (Russell) Bennett of Forksville, PA, Gloria Ann Bryan of Dushore, PA,  Patsy Jean (Douglas) Fries of Pineville, LA, Dorothy Silverstrim of Dushore, PA, and Connie (Robert) Vohrer of Meshoppen, PA; two brothers-in-law: John Evangelisti, of Mildred, PA, and Robert Silvertrim of Dushore, PA, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by four brothers:  Walter (infant) Chrzanowski; Francis “Chet” Chrzanowski, on May 30, 1971; Edward Chrzanowski, on February 17, 1997; John E. Chrzanowski, on May 6, 2015; and by four sisters: Wanda Andrewlavage on July 10, 1999; Helen Ottaviani, on February 23, 2009; Yvonne Evangelisti on May 1, 2017, and Theresa “Tess” Vickers on November 5, 2014;  and by two sisters-in-law; Dolores Insinger on September 16, 1987, and Joan Shaffer on February 20, 1988.  

 

The family will receive friends at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St. Dushore, PA on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon with a Memorial Service to follow at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Cynthia Wenzinger, officiating.   

Military Honors will be accorded by the US Army Honor's Detail.

Everyone is invited to a luncheon at the American Legion in Dushore, PA, immediately following the service.  

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bernard can be made to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St. Johnson City, NY 13790.
