Barbara Jean Keeney

          Mrs. Barbara Jean Stanton Keeney, age 66, of Dushore, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at her daughter’s home with her loving family at her side.

          Barb was born on September 12, 1952, in Meshoppen, a daughter of the late Donald Ray & Alma Rose Ham Stanton, and attended the Sullivan County High School.

          On November 5, 2011, she married her best friend and love of her life, Charles Wesley “Chuck” Keeney of New Albany, PA, and they enjoyed a happy marriage until his untimely death on December 8, 2017.

          Barb was a hard worker her entire life.  She began at the Endicott Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co. in Mildred, PA, for 20 years, the Laporte Hotel, for over 18 years, and also in security at the Proctor and Gamble Plant in Mehoopany, PA.        

          She enjoyed participating in the Sullivan County Dart League and the Sullivan County Ring Toss League.

          Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

          Barb is also survived by ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one on the way, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

          Besides her parents, and husband she was predeceased by a brother, Gary A. Stanton Sr., on January 1, 2018.

          A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at the Homer Funeral Home, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Thomas J. Major, her pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in St. Basil’s Cemetery.

          Family and friends may call on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
