Amanda was born August 5, 1914 in Mehoopany, PA a daughter of the late Herbert & Josephine Kasson Place. She attended high school in Mehoopany and as they did not have 12th grade, she graduated from the Tunkhannock High School. She later graduated from the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked in nursing her entire life, on Long Island, NY and later in Greensboro, NC where she has resided for the past 50 years. She married William E. Walters in 1941 and he predeceased her on November 19, 1970. Surviving: Two sons and daughters-in-law: William & Sharon Walters Elkton, MD Jack E. & Laraine Walters Stevensville, PA Four grandchildren and two great grand children and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Francis Place and John Place and a sister, Evangeline Scholz. A private graveside service will be held at the Vaughn Cemetery, Mehoopany, PA at the convenience of the family.
