Mrs. Virginia May Fitzgerald, age 89, formerly of Towanda & West Burlington, PA passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, September 6, 2016 in Elizabethtown, PA where she had moved several years ago to be close to her daughters and grandchildren. Virginia was born on May 20, 1927 in Windham Township, Bradford County, PA a daughter of the late James W. & Viola May Nichols Berry. She married Paul J. Fitzgerald of Dushore, PA on June 20, 1952 and they enjoyed almost 45 years of happy marriage before his passing on April 15, 1997. She was a keen reader her whole life and enjoyed antiquing. She was a devoted Mother and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving: Son: Thomas Fitzgerald, Pittsburgh, PA Three daughters: Barbara (Jerry) Fitzgerald-Turner, Wayne, PA Susan F. (Dr. Robert) Russo, Adamstown, PA Julia A. Paris, Lancaster, PA Sister: Betty (Robert) Quick, Nichols, NY Six sisters-in-law: Sr. Theresa Fitzgerald I.H.M., Scranton, PA Celia (George) Lapinsky, Wilmington, NC Melinda Fitzgerald, Dushore, PA Donna Fitzgerald, Reno, NV Dorothy Fitzgerald, Fayetteville, NC Carleen Fitzgerald, Sugar Run, PA Brother-in-law: Francis L. Tourscher, Dushore, PA Three grandchildren: Justin F. Russo, Annie Russo (Robert) Dyer and Devin F. Turner; two great grandchildren, Ethan Steffy and Wyatt Dyer, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by: two sisters: Margaret (Ward) Ross and Beatrice (Bruce) Lent; two brothers: William Berry and Hudd Berry; two sisters-in-law: Helen Tourscher and Kathryn (Carl) Muller, and six brothers-in-law: Joseph, Edward, James, William, Patrick, and Peter Fitzgerald. A private Memorial Service will be held for the immediate family in Lancaster, PA and a Mass in her honor will be said at a future date at St. Basils Church, Dushore, PA. Interment will be in the parish cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Paul.
