Charles "Sandy" L Sanderson

Charles Lester “Sandy” Sanderson, age 78, of Sugar Run, PA passed away on Monday, May 02, 2016 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA with his loving family at his side. Sandy was born on July 5, 1937 in Trafford, PA a son of the late Earl Stanley & Virginia Graham Sanderson. He entered the US Air Force in 1955 and served in Vietnam and retired in 1981 as a Chief Master Sergeant in the Accounting & Finance Department. He married the former Joan Bullock of Wilmot, in Denver, CO on February 1, 1969. Joan was also serving in the Air Force and was stationed in Denver. After his discharge he worked for Civil Service in New Jersey and also at the Tobyhanna Depot for several years. He then worked for the Kintner Insurance Agency in Wyalusing and finally retired from the Eagles Mere Country Club as their controller in 1999. Sandy was a very active member of the former Wyalusing Masonic Lodge No. 618 F. &A.M. where he served as the Past Master, and also the Wyalusing American Legion Post # 534 and helped with many of their local projects. He was a very caring person and helped many young folks, giving them hope listening to his fatherly advice. He enjoyed visiting with his many friends and sharing breakfast with them in the Wyalusing and Dushore area restaurants. He also loved carefully maintaining his lawn. Surviving: Wife: Joan Sanderson, at home Three daughters: Debra Thorvaldson, Norfolk, VA Patricia (Dan) Lawton, Bloomsburg, PA Kathleen (Chris) Lambros, Evanston, IL Sister: Virginia Borner, Edgewater, FL Brother: Donald Sanderson, Frederick, MD Two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Fitzgerald, Fayetteville, NC Judith (William) Dolde, Naples, FL Brother-in-law: Richard (Eileen) Bullock, Wellesville, PA Grandchildren: Jacob, Nathan, and Caleb Martz; Ainsley Lambros; and step-grandchildren: Hope and Jake Lawton. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his twin-sister: Shirley Gongaware. He was also predeceased by a brother-in-law, Ron Bullock on October 30, 1963 and a sister-in-law, Virginia Gainer on April 7, 2008. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA with the Rev. Phyllis A. Pelletier, officiating. Interment will follow in the Colley Cemetery. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by Members of Wyalusing American Legion Post #534, and by members of the US Air Force Honor’s detail. Family and friends may call on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, Wyalusing, PA from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. There will be a Masonic Service at 5:30 P.M. by members of the Union Wyalusing Lodge No. 108 F. &A.M. on Friday evening and members of the Wyalusing American Legion Post #534 will pass in review at 5:45 P.M.
