D. Jane Kerstetter

Mrs. D. Jane Kerstetter, age 85, of Montoursville, PA, formerly of Dushore, PA passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016. Jane was born on February 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Clyde A. & Anna Kochen Krause. She graduated from the Dushore High School and also from the Madam Fenwick’s Beauty Academy in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She worked at different salons in Wilkes-Barre before she and her sister Dolores Barsavage opened up a salon in Dushore which was located across from the Monument in Dushore. Jane married Charles Robert Kerstetter and they resided in Montoursville, PA. He predeceased her in 1987. In Montoursville, Jane owned and operated her own beauty salon from her home for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Montoursville, and was a member of the church choir. She was a former member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA. While in Montoursville, she was the first woman president of the Montoursville Little League Association in 1970. Jane enjoyed playing bingo and attending almost all church and local annual celebrations in Sullivan County, especially old home days, super bingos, church bazaars and dinners. She also enjoyed dancing, especially ballroom and polka dancing. A Transferal Service will be held on Friday, April 29th, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church on with the Rev. Richard Rojas, pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Following the graveside service there will be a gathering for friends and family from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Residence Inn Marriott, 150 West Church St., Williamsport, PA 17701 in the Winston Room. Friends may call on Friday morning, at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the transferal service. The family will provide the flowers, and direct that memorials be sent to the Montoursville Little League, PO Box 237, Montoursville, PA, 17754.
