Donald "Don" S. Lant Jr.

Mr. Donald S. Lant Jr., age 77, of New Albany, PA passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Robert Packer Hospital with his loving family at his side. Don was born on October 24, 1938, in Plainfield, NJ, a son of the late Donald S. Sr. and Annamae Williams Lant. He graduated from the Dunnellen High School a member of the class of 1957. Don married the former Margaret Carey of Dunnellen, NJ on May 16, 1959, and she predeceased him on September 21, 2011, after 52 years of marriage. They resided in Piscataway, NJ, until moving to Bradford County in 1970. He worked for Meliti Brothers Construction, retiring in 2001 after 35 years of service. Don enjoyed spending time with his family. He liked racing dragsters, with his wife by his side and with his pit crew. Don loved NASCAR, rarely ever missing a race. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting as well as his annual fishing trips with his brothers Dick and Jim, and his uncle Reese, to Canada each year. He worked hard his whole life and he will be missed by all who knew him. Surviving: Six children: Donna Mae (Vic) Ordille, Colton’s Point, MD Donald S. Lant Jr., Joshua L. (Courtney) Lant, Brigitte C. (Jeff) Wells-Sauerstein, Matthew N. Ordille, Dillon M. Dodge, Keely E. Johnson, Katie M. Johnson, Dayna M. Dodge, Garret T. Ordille; Great grandchildren: Connor Duperre, Tristen Duperre, Legacy Duperre, Quinlan Audet, Jordan J. Lant, Brayden David Wells-Sauerstein, Lillyana May Lant, Chance Stone-Lant, Ryker A. Sauerstein, Dominic Monty-Carbonari; Special Aunt: Doris Lant Basking Ridge, NJ Lifetime friends: Stanley and Beverly Fulkerson Nicholson, PA And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother James K. Lant in 2014, and a grandson Jason S. Lant in 2015. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA with Merna Colwell, Lay Chaplain, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:30 PM until the time of the service.
