Vincent Roy Calaman

Mr. Vincent Roy Calaman, age 81, of Monroeton, PA passed away on February 23, 2016. Vince was born July 4, 1934, in Mildred, PA, a son of the late Rocco and Marianna Lico Calaman. He graduated from the Cherry Township High School, a member of the class of 1952. He married the former Carol Walters of Dushore, who was the mother of his five children, and predeceased him in 2011. In 1980 he married former Helen Madeline Kovacs of the Bronx, NY, and she predeceased him in 2015. Vince served in the US Navy at the end of the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1959. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul’s Church, Towanda, PA. Vince retired from Penn Dot after 20 years of service. He was a gifted writer and for over 50 years wrote many articles and letters-to-the-editor in the Daily Review. He also published a book of his wife Helen’s life story. Vince enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and taking photographs. In retirement Helen and Vince enjoyed traveling across the country. Surviving: Children and grandchildren: David (Kay) Calaman, of Monroeton, PA; Gary (Jeanette) Calaman; Darren, Sierra, Akeem, Vanessa, and Khabeera of Towanda, PA; Michael (Amy) Calaman; Roxanne, Rachael, Robyn, Daniel, and Katelyn of Monroeton, PA; Christopher Calaman; Chelsie, Jazlynn, and Marriah of Monroeton, PA; Jeneanne Calaman: Mya, and Sarah, of Powell, PA Step-son, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren: Robert W. (Bonnie) Petruschak Jr. of Athens, PA, Jamie Petruschak, of Owego, NY, and Stacie (Scott) McQuay, of Sayre, PA and Alex McQuay, and Emi McQuay. Sister: Helen (Sonny) Covey Monroeton, PA Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Vince was predeceased by a grandson, Jeremy Calaman; and siblings: an infant, Anna Calaman (in Italy), Warren Calaman, Theodore Calaman, Joe Calaman, Bernard Calaman, Phoebe Shaffer Brink, Rose Boudman, Anna Miller, Lena Calaman, and Mary Henley. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Richard Rojas, pastor, presiding.
