Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Marshall Pier, age 75, of Kirkwood, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at her home with her loving family at her side. Peggy was born in Buffalo, NY on March 7, 1940 a daughter of the late John J. & Laura Ruth Reinbold White. She graduated from St. Basil’s High School a member of the Class of 1958. In high school she was very active as a cheerleader for the basketball team. She married William Marshall of Overton, on October 30, 1958. She graduated from the Wilkes-Barre Beauty School and received her license as a beautician. They moved to Syracuse for several years and then moved to Kirkwood. She began working as a waitress at the former Treadway Inn in Owego, and later retired from there as a Manager. She was predeceased by her husband Robert L. Pier on June 7, 2015. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church of Kirkwood and a former member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA. Peggy enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and spending several winters in Florida. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and never missed baking a birthday cake for her children. Surviving: Daughter: Brenda (Harold) Marshall Kirkwood, NY Son: William (Karen) Marshall Binghamton, NY Three sisters: Shirley (Gordon) Dailey Montoursville, PA Regina (Drew) Bagley Shunk, PA Deborah (Raymond) Thall Carlisle, PA Sister-in-law: Dena White Muncy, PA Three grandchildren: Shawn, Max and Emily and several nieces and nephews. She was predecease by a brother, William J. White of Muncy, PA on May 18, 1997. A Transferal Service will be held on Saturday, February, 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Richard Rojas, pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
