Assunta Anna Ferrulli

Assunta Ferrulli, age 87, of Wyalusing, PA, passed away on Saturday evening, January 2, 2016 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Guthrie Memorial Hospital, in Towanda, PA with her loving family at her side. Assunta was born June 15, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Gabriel and Amelia Papa DeFrancesco. She met Nicola Ferrulli of Brooklyn, NY when he was working at the Brooklyn Naval Yard during WWII. They were married on September 15, 1946 and enjoyed 65 years of marriage before his passing on December 31, 2011. They resided in Brooklyn, NY for 25 years and then spent 20 years in Staten Island and retired to St. Cloud, FL for 20 years. They moved to the Wyalusing area in 2009. Assunta was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA She thoroughly enjoyed cooking and baking and listening to Opera. In later years she and Nicola enjoyed traveling. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving: Two daughters and sons-in-law: Greta (Al) Taylor Palm Coast, FL Diane (Russell) Reen Walton, NY Two sons and daughters-in-law: Peter (Kathy) Ferrulli Wyalusing, PA Nicholas (Maureen) Ferrulli Staten Island, NY Grandchildren: Peter, Sherri Ann, Nicole, Russell, Daniel, Deanna, Jill, Nicholas Two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary (Albino) Tondo Brooklyn, NY Nettie Gelormino Staten Island, NY She is also survived by 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter; Lucille Fissekas, two brothers: James & Andrew, and four sisters: Jennie, Grace, Connie, & Betty. She was also predeceased by two brothers-in-law; Joseph Ferrulli and Tom Gelormino and also by two sisters-in-law Rose Antonucci and Grace Ferrulli. A Transferal Service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2015 at 10:00 AM from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Richard Rojas, her pastor, presiding.
