Mr. Robert Rankin Sheppard, age 85, of White Stone, VA passed away on Tuesday, December 08, 2015 at home with his loving family at his side. Robert was born on January 8, 1930 in Alexander, NC a son of the late Carl Arthur & Ella Pearl Campbell Sheppard. He married the former Audrey Marie Hunsinger of Dushore, PA on February 14, 1953 at Zion Chapel and they celebrated their 61th wedding anniversary this past February. Robert honorably served his country during the Korean War and also the Vietnam Conflict and then retired from the United States Marine Corps after 28 years of faithful and honorable service achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He then worked for the U.S. Dept. of Labor and retired in 1994. Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing and was expert gardener. He was a 50 year member of Evergreen Lodge #163, Monroeton, PA and other Masonic organizations. Surviving: Spouse: Audrey M. Sheppard at home Daughter: Karen (Kenneth) Benza White Stone, VA Son: Kim Robert Sheppard Las Vegas, NV Two grandchildren: Branden Charles Benza and Kalin Ann Benza, White Stone, VA Sister: Helen Dempsey Allen Park, MI Two brothers: Sam Sheppard Mars, PA Roy Sheppard South Gate, MI Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Carl A Sheppard Jr., and a sister Ruth Lindsey. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fairview Cemetery, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Phyllis A. Pelletier, pastor of Zion Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, officiating. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of the US Marine Corps Honors Detail Memorial contributions may be directed to Zion Chapel, PO Box 460, Dushore, PA 18614 or Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Road, #130, Glen Allen, VA. 23060 Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P.
