James Patrick McGinty

James Patrick McGinty, age 78, of Lopez, PA passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Guthrie Memorial Hospital, Towanda, PA. Jim was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on August 11, 1937 a son of the late James & Mary “McFadden” McGinty. He graduated from the Radnor Senior High School, Radnor, PA. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 and also in the Army Reserve until 1961. Jim owned and operated McGinty’s Mowers and Tractors business until retiring to Lopez in the early 2000’s. He married the former Gail A. Simms on May 29, 1993. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at the local legion posts. In retirement he also worked for the Dushore Agway assisting with mower repairs. Jim was a member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred and a member of the N.R.A. He was a former member of the Lower Merion Rod and Gun Club. Surviving: is his loving spouse, Gail at home; a son: James McGinty of King of Prussia, PA; daughter, Cheryl Ann McGinty Johnson of Conshohocken, PA; sisters: Mary (Robert) Gold of Bradenton, FL; Marjorie (James) Murphy, San Francisco, CA; Kathleen McGinty, Bryn Mawr, PA; brother-in-law: John (Beverly) Simms of Limerick, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law: Thomas F. Simms Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Richard Rojas, pastor, presiding.
