Doris M. Kinsley, age 89, of Laporte, PA passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte with her family at her side. Doris was born June 8, 1926 in Cherry Township, a daughter of the late Milton J. & Edna Kneller Weaver. She graduated from the Cherry Township High School a member of the class of 1944. She married Ford Kinsley of Cherry Township on May 11, 1951, and they operated the family farm at Kinsley’s Corners. They were married almost 34 years, until his passing on February 18, 1985. She also worked for a time at the Weldon Mfg. the Pajama Factory in Lopez, PA. During the time Ford was working as a carpenter, Doris was actively involved in the hay making and caring for the cattle. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, and other crafts. She also liked to take bus trips with friends and had the opportunity to go on a cruise. She was a dedicated member of the Zion Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and served on the joint council and board of trustees. She was a member of the Dorcas Women’s Group where she served as a long-time president. For many years, she was a fixture at the annual turkey dinner and the Lenten soup suppers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Charles Shultz of Laporte, PA son and daughter-in-law, Sgt. Major U.S.M.C., Ret. Ford and Tessie Kinsley of Harlingen, Texas, brother and sister-in-law, Milton, Jr. and Marian Weaver of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and sister, Dorothy Dieffenbach, of Dushore, Pennsylvania. She had six grandchildren: Erin Shultz and Lauren (Jeremy) Edkin of Laporte, PA and Floyd, Jerry, and Scott Kinsley and Samantha (Peter) Witt all of Las Vegas, Nevada. She had six great-grandchildren-Tyler and Logan Edkin and Asiana, Vincent, Mariah, and Isabella Witt. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews and loyal friend, Cindy Schumacher. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased in death by her youngest son, Ronald J. Kinsley on April 10, 1988, and brothers: Ernie Huffmaster in 1991 and Donald Weaver in 1934. A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 18, 2015 at Zion Chapel, Dushore at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Phyllis A. Pelletier, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Old Zion Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at Zion Chapel.
