Vogel Hugo. She graduated from the New Albany High School and was a member of the Class of 1953. She met Arthur A. Yonkin of Dushore and they were married on October 10, 1953. Art and Bernice resided in Horseheads, NY where Bernice went to work for Westinghouse Mfg. Co. in Elmira, NY. They returned back to Dushore where they raised their seven children. Bernice became the Dushore Borough Secretary where she worked for 30 years until retiring. They celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary in October of 2014. Bernice was a member of The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Dushore. She was active with community organizations and was a Den Mother for the Troop 48 BSA. She was a loving spouse, mother and grandmother. In retirement she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving: Spouse: Arthur Dushore, PA Seven children: David Yonkin New York, NY Douglas Yonkin Boise, ID April (Bob) Gavitt Eagles Mere, PA Dennis Yonkin Lewisburg, PA Chris Yonkin Chesapeake, VA Steven (Laurie) Yonkin Rockhill, NY Yvonne (Michael) Kelly Dallas, PA Eight grandchildren: Jessica Yonkin Schreib, Cody Yonkin, Kanen Gavitt, Reilly Gavitt, Jacob Gavitt, McKenzie Kelly, Mitch Kelly and Forest Smithkors. Numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by an infant son, Duane Yonkin and a grandson, Tristen Yonkin; brothers: Howard Hugo and Kenneth Hugo; sisters: Pauline McMahon and Carolyn Rider Funeral Services will be held from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Richard Rojas, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, May 4th 2015 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
