Robert A. Vogel Sr.

Robert Anthony Vogel Sr., age 70, of Lovelton, PA and formerly of Randolph, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, PA with his loving family at his side. Bob was born in Columbus, OH on May 12, 1944 a son of the late Paul E. Vogel Sr. and Dorothy Watzek Vogel. He graduated from Aquinas High School a member of the class of 1962, and received his bachelor’s degree in 1968 from Ohio Dominican College, Columbus, OH and where he met his college sweetheart. Bob was very proud of forming the first men’s basketball team at the college. He married the former Anita Marie Schussler of Great Neck, NY on August 19, 1967. Bob retired from Merrill Lynch as a financial consultant. In 2007, they retired to their country home in the mountains of Lovelton, PA While living in Randolph, NJ Bob was very active with Resurrection Roman Catholic Church. He spent a lot of time volunteering and also served on the finance committee of the church. He was active with his community’s recreation program where he coached soccer and basketball teams. He loved his family and he enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and was always ready to tell a good story. Bob was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be missed by all who knew him. Lauderdale, FL Grandchildren: Robert Anthony “Bobby” Vogel III Ellie Vogel Mandy Vogel Rebecca Bassett Courtney Bassett He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, along with many special friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Paul Vogel Jr. of Clearwater, FL A Transferal Service will be held on Friday, February 6th, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, with Rev. Richard Rojas, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA on Thursday, February 5th, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M and also from 6:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M.
