James L. & Mary Vought Fisher. She graduated from Towanda High School in 1941 and from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked toward her Master in Education from Boston College. She married George E. Lehman Sr. of Rummerfield on June 11, 1949, they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.She taught chemistry and physics in Wyalusing High School, and worked at State College in the Crystalography Labs, where she dealt with discerning the arrangement and bonding of atoms in crystalline solids and with the geometric structure of crystal lattices. Dorothy later worked for Bradford County Day Care. Dorothy was very active in the community, participating in the Wypotamos Girl Scout Council, American Field Service Exchange Program, also serving as a host parent, American Association of University Women, Standing Stone United Methodist Women, the Lady Whittemore Reading club of Standing Stone and Asylum, and the Towanda Wednesday Club. Dorothy was active in the Friends of the Library and one of the founding members of the Bradford -Wyoming County Literacy Program. She was a literacy volunteer for over 20 years clocking hundreds of hours helping others learn to read. She took further training and became a tutor trainer, and served on the Bradford County Library Board. Dorothy loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours hiking with her husband George, and a group of good friends. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Deborah Lehman, of Meadville, Pa., Mary Ellen and husband John Lavin of Jackson Heights, N.Y., Charlotte and husband Stephen Lyon of Troy, son George Edward Jr. and wife Jane of Erin N.Y., daughter Dolly Tarreto of Laceyville, and son James of Dushore. Her nieces Winifred Cleveland Sherman of Pittsburgh, Pamela Loose Wolber of Whitesboro N.Y., Elizabeth Loose Blose of Austin TX and Emily Loose, and their families along with twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive her. She was predeceased by three sisters: Mary Louise Cleveland, Helen Wittry, and Sarah Ann Loose. A private family viewing was held at the Dean Homer Funeral Home on Sunday. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 11:00 A.M. at the Standing Stone United Methodist Church, with her pastor the Rev. William L. Westbrook Sr., officiating.
