Lloyd was born on March 24, 1929, in Wyalusing, PA son of the late Frederick G. and Georgia Meeks Huffman. He was a member of the last class to graduate from the “old” Wyalusing High School in the class of 1947. He met the former Kathryn Kuhnle of Wilmot, PA at a square dance, they were married on April 3, 1948, they continued dancing the rest of their days, recently celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary. In the early years he worked on his family farm, and then went to work for Welles Mill Feed Co. He and two brothers started and ran Huffman Brothers Trucking for a number of years. In 1965 he went to work for Sylvania, from which he later retired after 26 years of service. Lloyd enjoyed camping with the children when the kids were young, then continued camping and extensive traveling with Kathryn throughout the US and abroad. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; he enjoyed making bikes, trikes, and wagons for them. Lloyd lost his sight in July of 2006 and was able to make only one more bus trip to Florida. Lloyd was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, as well as a member of their choir. Lloyd was a member of the Wyalusing Senior Citizens group, as well as a fifty year member of the International Order of Odd Fellows. He was a member of the Wyalusing Fire Department, where he drove the ambulance, and together with Kathryn they ran the chicken barbeque at the annual fireman’s carnival for over 40 years. Lloyd founded the local Wyalusing and Wysox Alcoholics Anonymous chapters. He was predeceased by a son: David Lloyd Huffman on December 18, 2009, and six brothers; Levi Huffman, Melbourne Huffman, Andrew Huffman, Alfred Huffman, Raymond Huffman, Norman Huffman, and a sister: Gladys Huffman. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Chapel, Wilmot Twp., PA, with the Rev. Robert G. Kaltenbaugh officiating. Interment will be in the Wyalusing Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, May 2, 3014 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M at P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA 18853.
