Dorothy was born in Towanda, PA, on October 14, 1928, a daughter of the late Burleigh and Effie Whipple Roof. She attended grade school at the Standing Stone School and finished at the Towanda High School graduating in the class of 1946. After school she worked various jobs in the Sayre area, before she met and then later married Francis G. Taylor of Herrickville, PA on May 2, 1953; he predeceased her on February 2, 2002. Dorothy was a member of the Herrickville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Herrickville sewing club. She also taught cooking and sewing for the Herrickville 4-H. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was well known for her cooking, especially her homemade bread, cookies, and cinnamon rolls that she would sell at the Sale Barn, and her baked beans, coleslaw, and fresh rolls. She loved to knit and crochet; she made all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren their own quilt. She always had at least one garden, she enjoyed canning, having canned food this past fall. She also enjoyed watching and feeding her birds. She will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving: Son and a daughter-in-law: Gerald and Colleen Taylor Herrickville, PA Daughters and sons-in-law: Charlene and Kenneth Dauberman Athens, PA Glenda Taylor Standing Stone, PA Elizabeth and Phil Malt England Brother: Robert and Mary Jane Roof Standing Stone, Pa Sisters: Ella Mae Lundy Towanda, PA Sarah and Tom Cornell Johnson City, NY Joanne and Roy King Natchez, MS Grandchildren: Jeff Taylor and girlfriend Karen Weaver, Amy and Lance Weaver, Tammy and James Stedge, Kelly Dauberman, and Kim Fassett and significant other Michael Lee. Great-grandchildren: Tyler, Travis, Andrew, Jade, Devin, Natalie, Mimi, and Lauren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson Timothy Dauberman in August of 1989. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., at the Herrickville United Methodist Church, Herrickville, PA with the pastor Richard Davis presiding. Interment will be in the Camptown Cemetery, Camptown, PA. Friends and family may call on Saturday morning Feb. 22, 2014 at the Herrickville church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
