DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net OBITUARY January 3, 2014 Mr. Harry Pete Sandusky, age 85, well known proprietor of Sandy’s Bar, of Satterfield, Cherry Township, PA passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital, in Sayre, PA. Sandy was born in Coraopolis, PA on January 13, 1928 the son of the late Peter and Blanche Ptacek Sandusky. He graduated from High School in Pittsburgh and worked in the steel industry before entering the Army Air Corps in WWII. He went back to work and later entered the US Air Force in June of 1951, serving during Korea and Vietnam, and retired in April of 1970, serving over twenty-one years in the service. He married the former Ethel Irene Smith of Turbotville, PA, whom he met while serving at the Red Rock Air Base, on September 19, 1959. They recently celebrated their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary. After retiring he purchased Mac’s Bar from Agatha McDonald and changed the name to Sandy’s Bar. He and Ethel operated the bar for twenty-eight years retiring in 1998. Ethel served the finest and largest hamburgers in Sullivan County. Sandy was a member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA. He was an avid Pittsburgh Sports Fan: Pirates, Steelers, Penguins, and Panthers. He also enjoyed his Corby’s and playing lottery tickets. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, pastor of IHM Parish, presiding. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Legion members are asked to pass in review at 4:00 P.M. immediately before the service on Thursday afternoon at the funeral home.
