Betty was born in Jersey City, NJ on September 10, 1923 the daughter of the late Ira Franklin Shenk and Winifred Louella Bown. Her family moved to Flushing, NY where she was raised. She graduated from Bayside High School, in Flushing, Queens, NY a member of the class of 1941. During the War she began employment for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City. She worked as a secretary until her marriage in 1949 to Albert E. “Bud” Snyder Jr., of Eutawville, SC, who was formerly of Dushore, PA She married Bill Stanton of Charlotte, NC on June 10, 1967. They resided in Berwyn, PA and later Downingtown, PA and they enjoyed 28 years of marriage until his death on July 31, 1995. Betty was an Avon Cosmetics representative for over forty years. Betty also was an accomplished knitter and made over 500 stockings with the names of her family and friends sewn into the stocking. Betty resided with her son Brett in Gap for the past four years prior to moving to Estella this past July. Surviving: Three sons: Bruce (Nan Gelhard) Snyder Akron, OH Barry (Barbara) Snyder Morgantown, PA Brett Snyder Gap, PA Brother: George C. Shenk Easton, MD Two grandchildren: John (Angela) Snyder, of Columbus, OH and Christina (Dwayne) Eckert, of Reading, PA. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lincoln Falls Wesleyan Church, Estella, PA with the Rev. William J. Hargenrader, pastor, officiating.
