Norconk, age 90, of Wilmot, PA passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at his home with his loving family at his side. Ray was born in the home where he died on September 15, 1922 a son of the late Charles M. & Mary Lamberson Norconk on the family farm in Wilmot Township which has been in the family since 1840. He graduated from the Dushore High School a member of the class of 1940 and continued his education with agronomy courses at Penn State. He married the former Shirley Fiocca on December 23, 1944. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last December. Ray entered the Army in World War II in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theater until 1946. He returned home to the family Holstein dairy farm where he was actively involved his entire life. He actually was operating the tractor in June. Ray was very active with the Bradford County Holstein Club and won numerous awards during his tenure on the farm. He was a loving spouse, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a kind and true gentleman who most enjoyed being with his family on the farm. Ray was a member of St. John’s Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Wilmot, where he served on the church council for many years. He was a member of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion and a member of the Right Cheer Hunting Club. Surviving: Spouse: Shirley at home Son: Gary R. (Sharon) Norconk Hunlock Creek, PA Daughter: Linda Kisner New Albany, PA Two sisters: Arlene Neuber Wyalusing, PA Kathryn Slawta Vestal Center, NY Four Grandchildren: Tammy (Bruce) Stough Kelly Kisner Timothy (Jennifer) Norconk Shaun (Sherry) Norconk Eight great grandchildren: Alexandra, Megan & Ryan Stough Teagan, Emmyrson, Finley, Jackson & Noah Norconk And numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters: Marian Blemle and Rachel Miller. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, September 16, 2013 from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and followed by a Service at St. John’s Chapel, Wilmot, PA at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Robert G. Kaltenbaugh, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Norconk Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday at the Homer funeral home from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorial contributions be sent to St. John’s Chapel, PO Box 460, Dushore, PA 18614. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by member of McDermott Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA and members are asked to assemble and pass in review on Sunday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
