Don was born in Towanda, PA on February 23, 1926 a son of the late Lee Thurston Chubbuck and Bessie Michael Chubbuck. He graduated from the Towanda High School . Don served in the US Navy during WWII. After the war he graduated from Mansfield State Teacher’s College, now Mansfield University. He later took continuing education at Bucknell University. Don began teaching Mathematics at the Loyalsock Joint High School in Estella in 1952, and then finished his career after the jointure at the Sullivan County High School in Laporte, PA. Don enjoyed traveling and accompanied the Shoemaker family on numerous family vacations. He also traveled extensively across the US Southwest. He was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting books and other items of interest in his retirement. Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Gerald Chubbuck of Towanda and two sisters, Doris Maier of Center Moriches, NY and Grace Scheithauer of Towanda, PA. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA. Interment will be in the Monroeton Cemetery, Monroeton, PA.
