Kisner, age 89, of Laporte, PA passed away on Monday, August 05, 2013 at the Millville Health and Rehab Center. Charlie was born in Mildred, PA on April 1, 1924, son of the late Charles W. Kisner and Pauline Obert Kisner. Charles graduated from Cherry Twp. High School, Mildred, PA a member of the class of 1942. He attended Williamsport Tech before serving in the US Marine Corps during World War II where he attained the rank of Sergeant and participated in the Philippine Islands Campaign. Charles was a watchmaker who started The Jewel Box in Dushore. In later years, he moved the business to Towanda as Kisner’s Gems. Charles was a member of St. Basil’s Church in Dushore, PA Surviving are his wife of 65 years, the former Marie Dempsey, and two sons: Paul and Gloria Kisner of Harrisburg and Francis and Mary Kisner of Berwick; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Also surviving is one sister, Anita Sullivan of New Albany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Edward L. Michelini, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
