Edith Morrow Reed, formerly of Sugar Run, PA., and Horseheads, NY, passed away February 9, 2013 in Ocala, FL at the age of 88.

She was born in Sugar Run, PA, on December 11, 1924, a daughter of the late Frank C. and Nellie E. Wheeler Morrow.

On June 15, 1946, she married her childhood sweetheart Edward Reed Jr. He predeceased her on December 16, 2003 after 57 years of marriage

Edie completed Mansfield University's registered nurses program in 1946. In 1958 she and Ed moved their family to Horseheads, NY. She worked at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, PA and St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, NY, retiring in 1989.

Edie was passionate about her patients and her nursing career. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed feeding her neighbors and friends.

She also enjoyed gardening, card making, playing mahjong and painting.

She is survived by her brother, Wayne (Mabel) Morrow of Sugar Run, PA; and sister-in-law, Doris (William) Madill of Monroeton, PA; her three children, Edward M. of Palm Coast, FL, Scott A. of Horseheads and Cindy (Michael) Chilton of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 4 great-granddaughters and many dear nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter-in-law, Patricia “Patty” Kinsman Reed, a brother Charles T. Morrow, and two sisters, Blanche M. Kissell & Ruth Brown Smith.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at the Wyalusing Cemetery, Wyalusing, PA, with the Rev. John H. Dabback officiating.
