Gilmore Jr., 86, of Moorestown, NJ and Eagles Mere, PA died peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Walter was born December 22, 1926 in Nashville, TN a son of the late Walter C. and Grace Brannom Gilmore Sr. He was the beloved husband of Clarice (nee Hefty) of Watsontown, PA. They were married on January 28, 1961 and recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Loving Dad to Lorraine Robbins Scaven (Greg) of Mesa, AZ, Ann Louise Migrala (Peter) of Maple Shade, NJ and Walter Alan Gilmore (Kristin) of Pennington, NJ. Loving Grandpa to Tori, Lauren, Jessica, Joey, Alison, Noah and Walter Colin. Walter was a WW II veteran. He joined the Marines at age 18 and served more than two years in the liberation of Northern China. After the war, He attended the University of Toledo on the GI Bill, and graduated in 1951 with a Bachelors of Science, Engineering Physics. In 1956, he obtained a Masters in Physics from Drexel University. Walter worked primarily at RCA (now GE) for approximately 39 years as an electrical engineer. His particular focus was on government defense working on communications and satellite systems for various government projects including the Space Shuttle and Aegis Missile Defense ships. Walter loved the outdoors and especially working on his garden. He always enjoyed summers spent with family in Eagles Mere, PA which involved golfing, hiking and fishing. He would always generously volunteer to assist in his kids activities including, Little League, Cub scouts, Indian guides, Eagles Mere Water Carnival, Brownies et al. Walter was also an avid bridge player. Most of all, he was beloved for his kindness and gentleness of spirit to all who knew him. Relatives and Friends are invited to Walter’s Life Celebration Service on Friday from 10 – 11:00 a.m. followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown 101 Bridgeboro Rd. Moorestown NJ 08057. Interment will be Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in Eagles Mere Cemetery, Eagles Mere, PA with the Rev. Deane S. Shively, officiating.
